Arti(fice)fact explores our current global landscape and its ability to self-parody the past. Driving the work is a series of found and appropriated objects that present a cultural paradox of sorts - a self contradiction of histories and ideals to then be responded to. Curated and collected from a series of souvenir shops, Wal-marts, online stores, and truck stops, the objects selected suggest ideas of the irreverent copy: a clever pastiche, and by no means an intelligent one. Purchasable at any one of these modern day trading posts, anthropologists of the future will be posed with a series of complexities to be discovered within these new and pillaged histories.
